Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
Faith Farm Ministries has been helping people for 57 years and was established in 1951 by Reverend Garland Eastham. From its inception this ministry provided comfort, shelter, food and Biblical training to homeless and destitute men. What began as a three-day program to help men recover the devastating effects of alcoholism, eventually matured into an extensive rehabilitation program providing lasting victory over the addictions of illegal drugs, alcohol and pharmaceutical drug abuse. Today Reverend Garland Eastham’s vision has grown to include three different locations, and an opportunity to find success and victory for both men and women.
Our goal in not just that people would find sobriety, but that they would experience a life changing and permanent relationship with God through Jesus Christ, to ultimately in turn help others find this victory over an addictive substance that had always been victorious over them.
What is your primary product or service?
Faith Farm Ministries is an extended care, residential drug and alcohol rejuvenation center. It combines a supervised environment and entrepreneurial enterprises that are run by the clients under our supervision. This combination creates an environment for establishing new daily routines, opportunities for dealing with normal stresses and creates an income for the program that allows underinsured or uninsured individuals to participate regardless of their economic situation. Our facility is small enough to insure that each individual’s contribution to it is noteworthy and tangible, yet large enough to function as a small town would with various enterprises and responsibilities combining to create a community.

How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
In 1951, Garland “Pappy” Eastham purchased a piece of property that became the Fort Lauderdale Rescue Mission. From its inception this ministry has provided comfort, shelter, food, practical courses of study, counseling and Biblical training to homeless and destitute men. Later Pappy purchased acreage on the outskirts of town that became Faith Farm Ministries of Fort Lauderdale. What began as a three-day program to help men recover from the devastating effects of alcoholism, eventually matured into an extensive nine month 150 bed rehabilitation program, providing lasting victory over illegal drugs, alcohol and pharmaceutical drug addictions. In 1965 he added 90 acres in Palm Beach County Florida and opened our Boynton Beach facility adding another 165 beds. These two facilities are supported by thrift stores and other philanthropic enterprises, like a beauty salon and two community food services. Most recently we opened our 85 bed, Okeechobee location on 1400 acres of land, with 40 acres of orange groves, a sod farm, a small thrift store, and a large cattle ranch. Today Garland Eastham’s vision has grown to include these three different locations, and an opportunity to experience success in overcoming addictive substances for both men and women. Our goal is not just that people would find sobriety, but that they would experience a life style change to ultimately find victory over an addiction that had always been victorious over them. Fifty seven years of experience and development have given us a particular qualification in rejuvenating lives.
