What is your primary product or service?
Creative trade financing for small businesses "when the banks say NO". MFS provides a service called A/R Financing or Factoring that does not qualify a business based on its own financial strength, but rather on the creditworthiness of its customers.
In essence, MFS buys B2B accounts receivable (invoices) to creditworthy customers (debtors) that demand 15, 30, 60 days payment terms. MFS provides immediate cash to the business to accelerate its cash flow and to free up immediate working capital. The business can therefore use the proceeds of its sales right away, i.e., without having to wait 30 days or more for its customers to pay, as MFS does the waiting instead.
This service not only generates a better, COD-like cash flow, it also helps clients with their accounts receivable management, which can free up internal resources who can then focus more on sales, customer service, and other more productive tasks.
Additionally, clients can receive free credit-monitoring reports on their current and future customers to decide whether or not payment terms should be extended. As a free - but optional - service, MFS will also assist with the collection efforts on past due invoices.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
When we saw how difficult it was for small businesses (especially for new or young companies or those with a poor credit history and/or without sufficient collateral) to obtain financing we knew that there was a solution MFS could provide. One of the MFS principals had experienced the benefits of factoring as a user of this service in Europe, while the other one has a 20+ years management history with global Fortune 500 FMCG companies and can therefore transform "big company challenges" to "small company solutions".
