Transportation planning, state and federal funding allocations for all modes of transportation.
The Palm Beach MPO is responsible for both long-range and short-term transportation planning for all of Palm Beach County. The MPO projects needs and proposes transportation system maintenance and improvements to be funded with Federal and State transportation dollars. Proposed projects and programs move through a planning process where they are prioritized and may eventually be recommended for inclusion in Federal and State transportation agency budgets such as the Florida Department of Transportation’s annual work program. The MPO Board is composed of 19 locally elected officials, including five Palm Beach County Commissioners, 13 elected officials from the larger municipalities, and one elected official from the Port of Palm Beach.
